This crystal clear lake has a rich history! Rumor has it that the name was changed from "Mouse Lake" by a wealthy resident back in the early 1900's because he was tired of being made fun of on the golf course. He felt that the Moose being a large, strong animal was better than a Mouse! The first European settlers interrupted the Ho-Chunk tribe's settlement of this lake in 1842 when they formed the Town of Stone Bank. These settlers harvested ice from the lake to sell for cooling ice boxes. Activities residents can enjoy include the annual boat tie up, 4th of July Fireworks show, fishing, ice fishing, ice sailing and skaing. Moose Lake is one of Lake Country's best kept secrets!
